Conformance Status
The LEARN portal is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standards.
The LEARN portal is designed with the following accessibility standards and guidelines in mind:
- Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA
- Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act of 1973
- Plain Language Act of 2010
Limitations and Alternatives
Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility on the LEARN portal, there may be some limitations. Below is a description of known limitations, and potential solutions:
- Although no barriers were found during testing, when using the search feature, the modified date filter on the search results page has settings for the user to interact with. Those settings have more interactive options within the written code. This has the potential to cause problems with some assistive technologies.
- When signing up or signing into an account, some text features on certain pages will receive keyboard focus when using a keyboard to navigate around the page. This usually means that things are interactive. These texts are not interactive, which may cause confusion.
- When signing up or signing into an account, the page content on certain pages will be read out as a grouped list. This is a default setting.
- When signing up or signing into an account, the level one heading on some pages is not recognized as a heading.
- When logged into an account, some tables don’t have an accessible title attached to them. The heading read aloud before each table will describe its contents.
- Although no barriers were found during testing, many table cells have a default status that says they cannot be interacted with. They are shown as “read-only” meaning they are for review only and cannot have text changed. These table cells are not supposed to be interactive, but the status has the potential to cause problems with some assistive technology.
